He feared Darkness

He feared darkness but she was the light; kids they were.
.
.

"Please stay close, I'm afraid of the nights. The shadows make faces and they are so dark, it scares me; look look another star is falling."
.
.
She was beside him; her eyes were glued to the Moon. She was pulled out of her reverie when he held her hand tight until it ached.
.
.
"Don't be afraid, I'm here and not going anywhere. Now tell me why are you so afraid of the nights. Am I not here to stay?"
.
.
He turned his gaze and fixed at her deep brown eyes that shone brighter than the stars.
.
.
"You said you will contemplate the stars with me and now you just keep your eyes fixed to the Moon all the time. I wanted to share my stars with you. But you went the other day saying you hate all my stars. Since then all of them have stopped twinkling. And now the hollow darkness of the sky haunts me. I will never talk to you again, you will see. "
.
.
"I will always be there with you but it seems your stars will suffer a terrible death soon. I'm but a dream, you know that right? I can never materialize.
Lets make a deal. Wanna see a magic ?"
.
.
"Yes I love magic, and mystery too."
.
.
"Okay you'll see both."
.
.
A gust of wind sprang up from below, a smoke was formed that engulfed her; the curls of smoke rose up and reached the clouds, crossed the Moon and ended up into the sky. A twinkle, as bright as her eyes filled the sky for a trifling moment. And then nothing else was there into the sky. Darkness prevailed except that one tiny little star that forever seemed receding.
.
.
He wailed and pleaded but she never returned again.
.
.
.
And He never witnessed another dawn.
.
.
